Everything you need to know about Friday...

This blog post will hopefully answer a lot of the questions people might have about Friday's party.

When, where and how?

The party begins at 7 p.m. (Fri. Dec. 6th) at the Pembroke Country Club and tickets can be purchased at the door. You also purchase tickets at Rockland Trust in Pembroke Center or buy them through EventBrite. Tickets are $15 per person and $25 for couples/families. Checks can be made out directly to the Pembroke Food Pantry. We're also hoping to be able to accept credit cards the night of the event (this will our first time doing this but we think it's good to go). There's also an ATM at the country club.

Why? This is the 4th year we've done this and we want to raise as much money and food as we can for the Pembroke Food Pantry as possible. So, please bring some canned goods, non-perishible food items and/or toiletries. Items the pantry is currently most in need of are cans of soup, tunafish, chili, peanut butter and crackers and shampoo.

How can I help? In addition to bringing food for the pantry, the Country Club is allowing us to bring desserts, so if you have a dessert that you think people would like, please feel free to bring one (or ten!). Other ways to help would be to spread the word about the event to your friends/neighbors and also buy a gazillion raffle tickets upon arrival ; )

What time does the party end? Good question that we don't really have a great answer for. We have the room until 11:00 and the bar area is open until midnight. Many people will be bringing their young kids so, for many, it'll probably end when their kids have made the decision for them. When you buy raffle and auction items, please write your names on the back of the tickets if you aren't sure how late you'll stay. If you win, we'll contact you and get the prize to you over the weekend.

What is the party going to be like? We'll have light appetizers and desserts for food. It's probably best, if you have kids, to plan on feeding them prior to coming because the apps won't likely be enough for some kids. The party will have a silent auction and a 50/50 raffle. There will be dancing and  Christmas music as well. We have an area that we're setting up for kids that will include activities, a visit from Santa and free face-painting. After Santa leaves, the kids area will have a showing of Polar Express and there will be popcorn and snacks for the kids as well.

I can't go but I want to help, how can I do so? If you'd like to help but can't attend the party, you can drop off food at several different collection spots around Pembroke. The Town's website has a lot of additional information if you click here.  You can also write checks and send them directly to the Food Pantry by mailing them to:

Pembroke Food Pantry
P.O. Box 295
Pembroke, MA 02359

That's about it. If we haven't answered your question, please feel free to email mattyorkpembroke@gmail.com and we'll be sure to do so.

****We will be updating this post with a final listing of all the different raffle and auction items we've collected and links to the incredibly generous businesses that have give us items.****

The following local businesses have really been incredibly generous to us with their time:

Denise Hawes Photography - Denise will taking pictures of the night as well as pictures of the kids with Santa. She's the one that persuaded Santa to spend his time with us this year. Check out her website at https://www.facebook.com/denisehawesphotography

Funtastic Faces of Pembroke - Carol has been kind enough to donate her time doing some pretty amazing face-painting this year. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Funtastic-Faces/197248167100881

Dirty Deeds - Janet LaBerge has been kind enough to donate her truck which will allow us to bring all the food that we collect over to the Pantry in one big trip. Her store, if you've never been, is pretty awesome and a lot of the money from the sale of those products goes to great charities. Her website is http://www.dirtydeedscheap.com/ and her storefront is at 209 Water Street in Pembroke (at the corner of Route 139 and Water Street).
