Pembroke Party for the Pantry 2014

This year will be the 5th year of Party for the Pantry in Pembroke, Massachusetts. It will be held on Friday, December 5th at the Pembroke Country Club. We'll have a lot more information in the coming weeks and months but please consider saving the date. If you are interested in donating an item for either the auction or raffle, please reach out to Matt York at 781-953-6177 or mattyorkpembroke@gmail.com. Also, if you are on Facebook, be sure to "like" our page at www.facebook.com/partyforthepantry.

If you've never attended the party, this short video done by PAC-TV gives a good sense of what it's like.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LsIq5F3ddMs

Thanks

The Party for the Pantry was started by Matt and Beth York in 2010. From the start they have been helped an enormous amount by Janet White and Dan Taylor as well as many other friends and businesses in Pembroke, Massachusetts.

Tonight's the Night

Hello everybody,

We're looking forward to a great party tonight. Just a few updates to share regarding the party:

We anticipate there being a large amount of people showing up early in the night. To expedite the process, people can make out checks directly to the Pembroke Food Pantry. The charge is $25 for couples/families and $15 for individuals. We'll be selling raffle tickets and 50/50 auction tickets throughout the night as well. You can also buy tickets online today at EventBrite. The party will be wrapped up by 11:00 (I believe the bar can stay open to midnight). If the time you plan on leaving is directly correlated with when your children completely meltdown, be sure to write your name/number on the back of your raffle tickets and we'll catch up w/ you over the weekend and get you whatever you've won

There will be light appetizers there but the kitchen is closed at the Country Club so it'd best to eat before you come. We can't keep ordering more appetizers throughout the night, the caterer will be bringing what they can bring and once that's gone it's gone. The Country Club has told us we can bring our own desserts, so don't hesitate to bring one to share.

Lastly, please bring canned goods and non-perishable food products! Thank you for your support!

Everything you need to know about Friday...

This blog post will hopefully answer a lot of the questions people might have about Friday's party.

When, where and how?

The party begins at 7 p.m. (Fri. Dec. 6th) at the Pembroke Country Club and tickets can be purchased at the door. You also purchase tickets at Rockland Trust in Pembroke Center or buy them through EventBrite. Tickets are $15 per person and $25 for couples/families. Checks can be made out directly to the Pembroke Food Pantry. We're also hoping to be able to accept credit cards the night of the event (this will our first time doing this but we think it's good to go). There's also an ATM at the country club.

Why? This is the 4th year we've done this and we want to raise as much money and food as we can for the Pembroke Food Pantry as possible. So, please bring some canned goods, non-perishible food items and/or toiletries. Items the pantry is currently most in need of are cans of soup, tunafish, chili, peanut butter and crackers and shampoo.

How can I help? In addition to bringing food for the pantry, the Country Club is allowing us to bring desserts, so if you have a dessert that you think people would like, please feel free to bring one (or ten!). Other ways to help would be to spread the word about the event to your friends/neighbors and also buy a gazillion raffle tickets upon arrival ; )

What time does the party end? Good question that we don't really have a great answer for. We have the room until 11:00 and the bar area is open until midnight. Many people will be bringing their young kids so, for many, it'll probably end when their kids have made the decision for them. When you buy raffle and auction items, please write your names on the back of the tickets if you aren't sure how late you'll stay. If you win, we'll contact you and get the prize to you over the weekend.

What is the party going to be like? We'll have light appetizers and desserts for food. It's probably best, if you have kids, to plan on feeding them prior to coming because the apps won't likely be enough for some kids. The party will have a silent auction and a 50/50 raffle. There will be dancing and  Christmas music as well. We have an area that we're setting up for kids that will include activities, a visit from Santa and free face-painting. After Santa leaves, the kids area will have a showing of Polar Express and there will be popcorn and snacks for the kids as well.

I can't go but I want to help, how can I do so? If you'd like to help but can't attend the party, you can drop off food at several different collection spots around Pembroke. The Town's website has a lot of additional information if you click here.  You can also write checks and send them directly to the Food Pantry by mailing them to:

Pembroke Food Pantry
P.O. Box 295
Pembroke, MA 02359

That's about it. If we haven't answered your question, please feel free to email mattyorkpembroke@gmail.com and we'll be sure to do so.

****We will be updating this post with a final listing of all the different raffle and auction items we've collected and links to the incredibly generous businesses that have give us items.****

The following local businesses have really been incredibly generous to us with their time:

Denise Hawes Photography - Denise will taking pictures of the night as well as pictures of the kids with Santa. She's the one that persuaded Santa to spend his time with us this year. Check out her website at https://www.facebook.com/denisehawesphotography

Funtastic Faces of Pembroke - Carol has been kind enough to donate her time doing some pretty amazing face-painting this year. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Funtastic-Faces/197248167100881

Dirty Deeds - Janet LaBerge has been kind enough to donate her truck which will allow us to bring all the food that we collect over to the Pantry in one big trip. Her store, if you've never been, is pretty awesome and a lot of the money from the sale of those products goes to great charities. Her website is http://www.dirtydeedscheap.com/ and her storefront is at 209 Water Street in Pembroke (at the corner of Route 139 and Water Street).

Party for the Pantry 2013

This year's Party for the Pantry which raises money for the Pembroke (MA) Food Pantry will take place on Friday, December 6th at the Pembroke Country Club. We primarily get the word out about the Party through our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/partyforthepantry) but will also try and regularly update this as well. This is the 4th year we've done it and the idea is pretty simple: It's a family-friendly Christmas party for Pembrokians of all ages. All money goes ...to the Food Pantry. We have kids activities, facepainting and a visit from Santa for the kids but also have appetizers, a DJ, cash bar and raffle and auction items for the adults. You can now purchase tickets in advance online for this year's party at the link below. Prices are $15 per person and $25 per family. If you can't attend but would like to make a donation, you can also do so online. All money goes directly to the Pembroke Food Pantry https://www.eventbrite.com/e/party-for-the-pantry-tickets-9247249773.
